Two Novice teams and a Tyke entry from the North York Lynx Ball Hockey League competed in the Ontario Ball Hockey Association Provincial championships in Hamilton recently, with one of the novice squads coming out on top in its division.

One of the Novice teams pulled off the championship after scoring with six minutes left in the second overtime.

"The 11 kids on our team should all be very proud of the way they came together in a short period of time, said coach Brian Deault. "They played their hearts out and all contributed. We wouldn't have achieved what we did without all of them and their tremendous teamwork. They just would not quit. It was amazing."

The other Novice and Tyke team also did well finishing in the final four of their respective "BB" divisions. The teams, who play out of Broadlands Community Centre, stayed at the same hotel over the tournament weekend.

Deault said the players were incredibly supportive of each other and the camaraderie was tremendous.

"It was exactly the kind of memorable experience we were hoping for the kids to have - developing friendships, supporting each other, gaining confidence as they progressed through the tournament and mostly having fun because that is what it is all about," he said.
