Toronto does have a professional hockey team still alive in the playoffs - and they're playing right here in Parkdale.

The team we're referring to, of course, is the Toronto Marlies, the Toronto Maple Leafs' farm team, which plays out of Ricoh Coliseum.

And with two thrilling seven-game series wins under their belts, they've made it to the American Hockey League's western conference final against the Chicago Wolves.

It gets underway Friday, May 16 and Sunday, May 18 in Chicago with back-to-back games in Toronto at the Ricoh Coliseum on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

The winner of this series advances to the AHL Calder Cup final against the winners of the AHL's eastern conference final between the Portland Pirates and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. That series kicked off Wednesday.

Toronto closed out their second successive seven-game triumph on Monday night with a 3-2 win over the Syracuse Crunch before 4,753 fans at Ricoh Coliseum.

In so doing, Toronto became only the 14th team in AHL playoff history to rebound from a 3-1 series deficit. Their final three wins were all by one-goal margins.

Prior to that, Toronto also needed seven games for an opening round series win over San Antonio Road Rage.

Toronto and Chicago led their respective north and west divisions in the regular season with 109 and 111 points, respectively, in the 80-game schedule.
