Two motorcycle police officers are recovering after a crash on Dufferin Street south of King Street Friday, Aug. 29.
Police said the officers were travelling northbound when the 9 a.m. accident occurred.
"There are two witness accounts. We don't know which one is fact," Const. Mig Roberts said. "The first one indicates that the officer went over the streetcar tracks, lost control and struck the second motorcycle officer. ... The other scenario is that one officer was ahead, one was behind. The one behind lost control. The one ahead looked back to see what happened and then he loses control."
Both officers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One suffered a broken collarbone. The other received bumps and bruises.
Roberts said a streetcar track is "like an ice rink" in the rain and that it was raining just before the collision occurred.
