Green Shift plan not an original idea

Mr. Kennedy and the other Liberal candidates are now going around promoting the fiction that they have this great new plan, just like he told you. However, The Green Party has been promoting this concept for almost a decade. I wonder why they have suddenly decided to copy the Green Party and why they are trying to pass this off as if it were their idea and why no one seems to be calling them on this point?

Did you know that The Green Party Tax Shift calls for an increase in the basic deductible to $20,000? This is a flat amount that means far more to people living at the lowest levels of income than at higher levels. Whereas, the Liberal plan calls for graduated and complex fiddling with existing tax rates that gives the most to those with the highest income who need it least. I would hardly call that "protecting low-income people first."

The Green Party plan calls for a tax on carbon as it comes out of the ground, before it becomes plastic, gasoline, or tax-exempt jet fuel.

The Liberal plan only taxes fuel, and, then at such a small amount that it will have no effect on behaviour at all.

I find it most curious that no one in the media is challenging any of this.
