Re: 'Wind farm plans worry Guildwood residents,' News, Aug. 27
The Mirror has reported that there are residents of Guildwood Village who worry about the possibility that wind turbines may be used, in future, to generate clean, "green" electricity just offshore from Guildwood. These folks do not represent my views.
I am a resident of Guildwood who is very much in favour of the speedy development of such a project. I have visited sites at Cap Chat Quebec, North Point in Prince Edward Island and Pubnico in Nova Scotia, where wind farms are currently operating. Wind farms are progressive, environmentally sensitive means of generating electricity and of reducing the carbon footprint of our society. The turbines are also quite beautiful to watch as they turn wind into electricity.
In this time of environmental crisis, I suggest that construction of a wind farm in Lake Ontario proceed as quickly as possible.
