Re: 'Pride in Scarborough deserves to be shared,' Letters, Aug. 8.
Our Scarborough community is soaring with pride. I'm not sure how one of your readers has missed all that is going on, specifically in east Scarborough.
Posted across our community are posters for The Guild Alive with Culture - An Arts Festival posters inviting all to attend the Guild Inn Gardens on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enjoy the festival, which includes a tour of the property. The tour will feature former City of Scarborough official town crier Frank Knight, along with John Rutherford as Lord Simcoe.
The tour, led by community member John Harris, will entice and inform visitors of the rich history of the Guild Inn grounds, including the story of Guild founders Rosa and Spencer Clark.
The festival, co-sponsored by a number of community organizations, businesses, including The Scarborough Mirror, has been advertised in your paper as well as featured in articles.
A beautiful community garden now sits at 4040 Lawrence Ave. where an old water tower once stood. The pride of the community members who have worked so hard on this site is to be praised.
There are many exciting things happening in east Scarborough. These are just a few of the more recent examples. I invite everyone to come out to support and enjoy them.
