Man points gun at police during traffic stop
Man faces charges after loaded weapons seized

A fleeing man pointed a firearm at police officers after they stopped a vehicle near Victoria Park and Danforth avenues Monday night.

Police said they stopped the vehicle, which contained two men, at about 9:40 p.m.

A man got out of the vehicle, pushed an officer and ran. He then allegedly turned and pointed a firearm at officers.

A man was arrested a short distance away. Police found two loaded firearms and a box of ammunition.

Another man was found to be in possession of 1.95 grams of marijuana, worth $20.

Eroll Potvin, 27, has been charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, two counts of possessing a restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of possessing ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, two counts of possessing an unregistered restricted weapon, two counts of weapons dangerous, two counts of unauthorized presence of a restricted weapon in a motor vehicle, two counts of possessing a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence and two counts of pointing a firearm.

Another man has been charged with possessing marijuana.
