Police want to trace the movements of a 22-year-old man before he was found shot to death Sunday on a bike path near a North York community centre.
A cyclist found Evan Andrew Rouse behind the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre on Bathurst Street north of Sheppard Avenue at about 11:45 a.m.
"We have no sense of what Evan was doing there. He's not from that area," Det. Sgt. Pauline Gray told reporters Tuesday during a news conference at police headquarters. "Evan was known to hang around in the downtown core. We're hoping that his friends or his acquaintances from the downtown core will be able to give us some sort of a pattern of where he was in the days preceding (Sunday)."
Rouse had an earring in his left ear and wore black Converse All-Star running shoes, white socks, a red sweatshirt, a red baseball cap and blue denim shorts.
An autopsy performed Monday determined he died of gunshot wounds.
Gray, of the homicide squad, said Rouse didn't have a criminal record.
He is the city's 42nd murder victim of 2008.
