The body of a man was discovered in a bin usually used for paper recycling shortly after 3 p.m. today after investigators scoured an area near the GO Transit Don Yard at 470 Lake Shore Blvd. E.
Police received a phone call either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning informing them that there was a situation on Lake Shore Boulevard at Cherry Street.
When police arrived Wednesday morning they discovered a bloody crime scene but no body.
Det. Stg. Gary Grinton of the Toronto police homicide squad said, “In the usual cases we find a body, then investigate a murder.”
Two individuals have been arrested in connection to the city’s 45th homicide of the year, three more suspects are being sought.
One of the suspects involved went to a lawyer, who then called police.
Squatting has been a problem at the city-owned site where the incident occurred.
Police have not identified the victim as it may hamper the ongoing investigation. But police did reveal they have a nickname for the victim, and will release the name as the investigation progresses.
Police from 51 Division have cordoned off the site and continue to comb the area along with forensic teams.
At this point, Grinton said that there is no clear motive for the crime.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 416-808-7400 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at www.222tips.com or 416-222-TIPS (8477).
